Sweden is ranked as Europe's fourth largest country; it is also Scandinavia's most visited tourist destination. Sweden is close to Norway (in the west) and to Finland (in the east). The country is located on the Scandinavian Peninsula between the mountains in the north and the seas in the south. The territory of Sweden is subdivided into several regions: in the south it is the province of Gotland, the central part of the country is the region of Svealand, which is famous for its numerous lakes, and Norrland (in the north), covering about half of Sweden.
Among the largest lakes of the country should be named Vattern and Vanern, the highest mountain is Kebnekaise. Swedish climate changes according to the region. The north is characterized by cool summers and cold winters with heavy snowfalls. The southern part of Sweden has warm, sunny and rather rainy summers, but mild winters.
